In this research PublicTechnology – in association with Cyber Ark – sought to find out how the public sector’s approach to data protection and cybersecurity has developed in recent years. 

We used freedom of information requests and government transparency data to track instances of personal data breaches across the public sector, as well as the volume of IT security procurement exercises taking place each year and how much is being spent.

The results shine a light on the effect of new legislation, in addition to demonstrating how government efforts to promote security and the increased prevalence and profile of cyberthreats have impacted public-sector behaviour.
